Ag in the Classroom
Ag Literacy Day occurs every year during National Ag Week,
and it is a rewarding opportunity for our members to promote
agriculture within our community. This past spring, our CFFA
members read to a group of 2nd graders at Rawlings Elementary
for Agriculture Literacy Day.

LTC Clean-up
Following the past few years' hurricane seasons, the Florida
FFA Leadership Training Center was in desperate need of some
up-keep and repairs. This past spring our club took a trip
to Haines City, Florida to continue our clean-up efforts.
This year we spent most of our time putting a fresh coat of
paint on the LTC. Through our efforts, the LTC will remain
in top condition, allowing FFA members and other organizations
the opportunity to utilize the facility for years to come.

Lake Butler HS/FFA Tour
One of our club's professional development goals is to organize
and participate in industry tours. For our November meeting,
our club took a trip up to Lake Butler, Florida where we had
the opportunity to tour the high school agriscience facility
and talk with the agriculture teachers Mr. Harris, Mrs. James,
and Mr. Williams. We all were impressed by the level of diversity
offered within the agriscience program at Lake Butler, and
we all took home some good advice for us to utilize in the
future as we become agriscience educators.

Mock Interviews
On March 24, 2007 CFFA hosted a practice screening and mock
interviews for potential state officer candidates for Florida
FFA. We had fifteen students from all over Florida come spend
the day with us and go home with a lot of great advice and
enthusiasm for there real screening. |
National ATA Conclave
The National ATA Conclave was held in conjunction with the
National FFA Convention this past October. Several of our
members traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana to participate in
several competitions at the conclave, and to work the University
of Florida recruitment booth in the FFA Career Show. CFFA
members Vanessa, Meaghann Faison, and Amie Taylor represented
our club in the Program of Excellence competition where they
presented a 5 minute skit that highlighted our club's activities
and events from the year.

FFA Leadership Workshops/T-shirt Sales Booth
This summer several of our members traveled to the Florida
State FFA Convention in Orlando, Florida. Throughout the convention
our members participated in a number of activities, which
included serving as judges and timers for the week's competitions,
selling t-shirts, and hosting leadership workshops for the
FFA members. Our efforts at the convention have helped prepare
our members for their future careers in education and communication,
as well as allowed the week's events to run smoothly.
